Vancouver Watch
Derrick got her first Olympic Winter Games experience out of the way in 2006. Now, she'd like to leave with a medal. She has a shot individually in the 1000m and the 1500m and an even better chance in the relay. In the final World Cup event of the 2008-09 season, Derrick won the 1000m. If she can keep that momentum, perhaps Derrick can win the U.S. Team's first Olympic women's short track speedskating medal since 1994.

Derrick is a converted inline skater and the first U.S. Winter Olympian born in Arkansas. She has lived in Arkansas, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan and Utah. At Northern Michigan University, she majored in elementary education, and she would like to go into teaching one day.
